This is the first of a series of studies which explore situations involving two people. How does one person think about their own goals and the other person’s goals? The results of this study may provide insight into human infants’ acquisition of symbolic language, autistic spectrum disorder, behaviorism, and spirituality / religion.
OVERVIEW:
This study employs a web-based questionaire to probe how participants
interpret a wide variety of short stories involving two people.
No deception is involved.
The study involves no more than minimal risk to
participants (i.e., the level of risk encountered in daily life).
PROCEDURE:
You will be asked to read a variety of short stories and rate the
believability of a few statements about each story. The questionaire
is similar to a reading comprehension test. With some of the stories,
you may feel there is only one correct answer. Other stories may
involve many different points of view. Your answers will help us
categorize the stories so that later we can state with statistical
confidence that a particular story can be interpreted as an instance
of a particular kind of situation.
You may find errors in spelling or grammar. Please report them,
yet try to stay focused on the purpose of the experiment — to
voice your opinion about the concerns of others.
PRIVACY:
Your email address is kept for our confidential record. All
responses are pooled and will be published in aggregate form only.
On the other hand, be aware that all your communication
with this site is via an unsecured connection. We do not offer
banking-grade security. Eavesdropping on your session is not

PARTICIPATION:
You must be 18 years or older in order to participate. Participation
is voluntary. Refusal to take part in the study entails no penalty or
loss of benefits. You may withdraw from the study at any time without
penalty or loss of benefits.
